We list below a number of Frequently asked questions. If you have any other question not covered in this list please ring 020 8275 2620.

Q. How do you order extra keys?

A. Go to product page where you will find a drop-down box where you can order.

Q. How many keys come with each lock?

A. In the short description of each product is listed the number of keys as standard; usually 2 or 3.

Q. How do I order “keys to code”?

A. Go to dedicated section where all will be revealed.

Q. What locks can I order which will work off the same key (keyed alike)

A. This feature will be detailed on the relevant product page if offered. There will be an extra charge for this service.

Q. What do I do to order a Master Keyed suite?

A. Not all locks can be Master Keyed. On the product page will be a symbol which indicates MASTER Keying possible, and invite you to ring the help line (020 8275 2620) to discuss your scheme for hotel, office, school, etc

Q. How do I measure a euro or oval profile cylinder?

A. Remove cylinder from the door (lock) by unscrewing the retaining screw in the leading edge of the door. Measure the cylinder from the centre of the screw hole to each end of the cylinder. This might be equidistant (eg 35mm x 35mm) or offset (eg 35mm x 55mm). Please state if there is a thumbturn, and which end.

Q. What is the significance of BS 3621?

A. This is a recognized standard for locks tested by the BSI (British Standards Institute) acceptable to and usually demanded by insurance companies.

All locks which conform to this standard will have a BS Kite Mark and BS 3621 stamped on the foreend.

Q. How do I know in what finishes locks are available?

A. This detail will be included in the product description and clearly stated on the Order page.

Q. What is the Master Locksmiths Association (MLA)?

A. The Governing body of the Trade Association for qualified locksmiths. There is individual and Company membership. Our company registration is 000119 and our Technical Director is a member in his own right.

Q. What has happened to the CHUBB brand?

A. Since August 2010 products under the CHUBB brand have been no longer available to locksmiths and other security specialists. However exactly the same products ,using the same technology, made in the same way, will be supplied under the UNION and YALE brands with similar product reference numbers.

Q. How long after placing my order should I expect to receive it?

A. See Clause 6 of our Terms & Conditions. However we offer a next day courier delivery service for a charge of £6.90 (incl VAT), if order is received before1.00 pm.

Q. I have just moved into a new house and wish to up-grade my security. What advice do you give me?

A. We refer you to the Security Guidelines section of this site, as proposed by the master Locksmiths’ Association.
